Steppenwolf Poster-Now Posting!

Last summer, Steppenwolf theater asked if I would make two posters for their acclaimed Steppenwolf for Young Adults series. One was House on Mango Street and the other, A Seperate Peace is opening this month in Chicago.

"John Knowles, A Separate Peace is a quintessential American classic about trust and betrayal, war and peace. A Separate Peace is a quintessential American classic about trust and betrayal, war and peace."

Because of scheduling, we were unable to shoot on location so I shoot in studio and compose the image from 7 parts in retouching myself. We shot 254 frames of both actors leaping from a 10 foot ladder down to a plush mat waiting for them below. Nobody was seriously injured. After an exhaustive search of the greenways of Chicago for the right background tree, I found my perfect tree directly outside the door of my Chicago home. How convenient.

Hide this under your mattress.

I shot a new cover for my ol' friends at the Chicago Reader. We riffed on the February 1970 Playboy cover for a feature on a girl who collects girlie magazines. Pick up the paper this week, and don't let mom find it.
